Poetry recitation activity successfully conducted by the Faculty of International Education for international students

On the afternoon of December 14, 2021, a poetry recitation activity was organized by the “Voice of Sea” Recitation Association of SBS and international students at the invitation of the Faculty of International Education. Although held online due to COVID-19, the activity still attracted 84 international students from South Korea, Russia, Uzbekistan, etc.

Firstly, the students of the Association presented their excellent poetry recitation works to international students. After presentation, they patiently taught international students how to recite poems, and explained the profound meanings of these poems in great details. At the other end of the screen, international students earnestly read the modern poem Never Give up after them: “Trying times will pass, as they always do. Just have patience, your dreams will come true. So put on a smile, you’ll live through your pain.”

The online poetry recitation activity not only enhanced the friendship between international students and Chinese students, but also improved the Chinese expression ability of international students. In the course of appreciating beautiful poems, international students came to realize that understanding Chinese culture constituted an essential part of the implementation of the “Study in Shanghai” program. The activity also deepened their understanding of Chinese culture, and strengthened their knowledge about, love for, and friendship with China.
