Deepening exchanges and cooperation, passing on Silk Road friendship – our university successfully completed the Seminar on Trade and Investment Facilitation for Madagascar

On the afternoon of June 21, 2022 (GMT+8), the closing ceremony for “Seminar on Trade and Investment Facilitation for Madagascar” hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) was held online. Chen Wei, executive vice dean of International Education College of Shanghai Business School, and Professor Yao Weiqun, Executive Dean of the International Trade Center Strategic Research Institute of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics attended the closing ceremony and delivered speeches.

The seminar lasted 14 days and was attended by 19 government officials from the Ministry of Industrialization, Commerce and Consumption and the Ministry of Commerce of Madagascar. During the seminar, a number of lectures, discussions, cultural experiences and other activities were organized to introduce the achievements and experiences of China’s trade and investment development, deepen the participants’ knowledge and understanding of China, and promote the exchange and cooperation between the two countries in this field.

Speech by Chen Wei

Dean Chen Wei said that this seminar is an exchange and exploration between China and Madagascar in promoting trade and investment development and strengthening international cooperation in multiple fields, and is also a vivid example of China’s practice of building a community with a shared future for mankind. With the deepening of the economic opening to the world, China is actively contributing Chinese wisdom to international trade and investment cooperation. It is believed that with the deepening of exchanges and cooperation in this field, China and Madagascar will jointly make positive contributions to the global trade and investment cooperation and development, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Speech by Yao Weiqun

Professor Yao Weiqun said in his speech that the seminar not only deepened the exchange between the two countries in this field, but also helped deepen bilateral economic cooperation including trade in goods, services, investment and development assistance under the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative. He sincerely hopes that China’s practice will provide useful reference for Madagascar.

Mr. Andriancasina Hanirarivelo Lindela, Director of the Department of Electronic Commerce and Consumer Information, Ministry of Industrialization, Commerce and Consumption of Madagascar, delivered a speech on behalf of all the participants. He said that this seminar enabled the participants to have a more comprehensive understanding of China’s overall development, including macroeconomics, business environment, and Chinese culture. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Commerce of China, Shanghai Business School and all the teachers, and hoped that this seminar would be the starting point to continuously strengthen the communication and exchange between China and Malaysia.
