SBS Successfully Holding 2021 Fall Opening Ceremony for International Students

        On the night of September 24, Shanghai Business School (SBS) successfully held its grand 2021 Fall Opening Ceremony for International Students at meeting room 1401 at the Xuhui Campus. Present at the ceremony were He Ying, Vice President of SBS and the responsible persons of the Faculty of Business Administration, the Faculty of Hospitality Management, and the secondary-level faculties offering international student education. For the sake of pandemic control, the ceremony was held in both online and offline forms. A total of 30 students who had arrived at the school witnessed the ceremony, while other students who had not arrived in China due to the pandemic watched the online live broadcast. The ceremony was directed by Chen Wei, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Education.

        He Ying, Vice President of SBS, presented a speech on behalf of SBS, welcomed the international students choosing SBS, and introduced the basic situation, history, and features of the school to the freshmen of Class 2021. She encouraged all international students to cherish the great learning opportunity offered by China, improve their moral accomplishment and knowledge level, and be citizens of the world full of positive energy.

         Jiang Hong, Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality Management, delivered a speech on behalf of secondary-level faculties. She expressed her wish that international students would actively blend into the campus culture of SBS, devote themselves to learning, and take part in diverse campus activities, so as to constantly improve themselves, realize their life values, and better serve the society, the country, and the world.

        Doctor Sun Li from the Faculty of Finance spoke on behalf of the teaching faculty, and raised her expectations for international students. She expressed the hope that international students would be able to fully understand the curriculum setting of their specialties and master learning and communication skills.

        CHING HUONG KONG and IRADUKUNDA AIMEE from the specialty of Hospitality Management welcomed the arrival of the freshmen and talked via video connection on behalf of current students and graduates, respectively.

       HAQUE MD AZIZUL from Bangladesh spoke on behalf of freshmen, and expressed his anticipations for university life and his determination and confidence in study.

        The opening ceremony received a total of 153 freshmen from 37 countries and regions distributed over Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. They were enrolled into three specialties taught in English and several specialties taught in Chinese in five secondary-level faculties. After the registration of the freshmen of Class 2021, SBS had a total of nearly 200 international students.

        2021 is the starting year of the “14thFive-year Plan” period. Focusing on the goal of “internationalization of school education”, the Faculty of International Education has strengthened the enrollment of international students to increase the proportion of international students and highlight the internationalization-oriented school-running features. The successful holding of the opening ceremony marks the beginning of a new journey for the freshmen of Class 2021, and a new phase for the internationalization of SBS. The internationalization of SBS is worth the wait!
