SBS Forum Lecture 47: Overview of Philippine Tourism: Policy, Management and Recovery Launched Successfully
In the afternoon of October 29, SBS Forum Lecture 47, sponsored by the Division of Scientific Research, SBS, and jointly organized by the College of Hospitality Management and the MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai)(hereinafter referred to “Shanghai Training Base”), was successfully held. Mr. Edwin Ragos Enrile, SBS visiting professor and Deputy Minister of Ministry of Tourism of the Philippines, gave a lecture titled Overview of Philippine Tourism: Policy, Management and Recovery. The lecture was held online and offline, with two offline main venues in Xuhui and Fengxian Districts. Vice President He Ying of SBS, Vice Dean Chen Wei and Dai Ying of College of International Education, Dean Jiang Hong and Vice Dean Fu Quansheng of the College of Hospitality Management, teacher Xi Yubin and representatives of teachers and students of College of Shanghai Lausanne Hospitality Management, Shanghai Business School, and representatives of international students of the school attended the lecture.

Vice President He Ying made an opening speech. She pointed out that Mr. Enrile had held important positions in many ministerial commissions in the Philippines, had rich practical experience and profound professional literacy in the field of tourism management, participated frequently in the planning and management of the tourism industry in the Philippines, and made outstanding contributions in this field. She hoped to, by virtue of the lecture, work together with the Philippine Ministry of Tourism to reach more consensus in the fields of education, training and technology sharing, continuously deepen bilateral exchanges and jointly write a new chapter of bilateral cooperation.

Minister Enrile’s lecture covered three main topics. The first was an overview of the Philippines and its tourism industry. Minister Enrile shared information on the Philippines and its people, domestic tourists and the contribution of tourism to the economy; in the second part, he showed the cloud trip to the Philippines through tourism destinations and souvenirs, and shared the tourism planning scheme of Boracay Island in the Philippines; in the third part, with the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister Enrile shared the tourism development plan and strategy of the Philippines government in the post epidemic era as the Philippines slowly reopened the tourism industry for economic recovery.

In the following Q&A session, teachers and students online and offline were enthusiastic to ask questions. Minister Enrile listened carefully, and gave answers to help clarify the participants’ doubts about the Philippine tourism in combination with his own practical experience.

Minister Enrile participated in the Philippine SME Management Seminar conducted by MOFCOM Training Base for International Business Officials (Shanghai) in 2019. During the seminar, he highly appreciated our training work for international business officials.
